This week marked the completion of our first intake of the “Becoming More Self-Sufficient” 6-module course.
Looking back, it has been incredible to witness each participant’s growth.
Seeing them gain confidence, develop new skills, and begin their journey of growing their own food has been truly rewarding.
I can’t wait to see where their path takes them next!
A Week of Challenges and Reflection
On a personal note, this week has come with its fair share of challenges—some expected, others not.
In times like these, I’m grateful for the patch. It’s more than just a source of food; it’s a place to process thoughts, emotions, and the occasional confusion that life throws our way.
Preparing for Winter
As summer crops come to an end, it’s time to start clearing the patch. The cycle of seasons is always at work, and soon, with the caterpillars and crickets slowing down, we’ll begin to see our winter vegetables coming through.
Important Updates
We will be open the next two Saturdays but will be closed on Saturday, April 26th.
Unfortunately, we’ve also had to make the tough decision to adjust the price of our eggs.
This is something I’ve held off for as long as possible, working hard to keep costs down. However, with the rising expenses of rearing and feeding chickens, it’s become necessary. When our own supply struggles to meet demand, we also source from a trusted local chicken farmer to ensure our customers can still get the eggs they need.
Saturday at the Barn
We’re open from 11am to 5pm and will be serving:
• Coffee and cake
• Cheesy Potato-Zucchini Bake with Beef Mince
• Zucchini Slice (Vegetarian)
Stop by for a meal, a chat, and a walk through the patch. See you soon!
