Christmas has come and gone, and what a season it has been!
For us, this time of year always brings a mix of farming responsibilities and festive moments. Between planting, setting up irrigation, making silage, and cutting hay, there’s never a dull moment.
And as the first produce begins to come through, the excitement builds.
When Christmas arrives, we don’t usually plan for big gatherings, but somehow, we always find ourselves a part of a few!
This year, we hosted a pasta night at the barn for a group of backpackers.
It was a simple, heartfelt evening of good food and company, made even more special as we shared what might be our last meal with our (now former) worker.
On Christmas Day, we were invited to join a family gathering, where our German backpackers got to experience a classic Australian Christmas feast. Their verdict? “We’ve never eaten so much whipped cream and so many different desserts in one night!” It’s safe to say they got the full festive experience!
Boxing Day brought another cherished tradition—lunch with the family we’ve been part of for the past 15 years.
It was a relaxed and lovely afternoon filled with good food and, yes, more whipped cream!
But as always, the farm waits for no one, and today it’s back to work. Our focus is now on tackling the ever-growing to-do list, alongside the daily tasks that keep everything running smoothly.
